Capacity building and strategic support in Gaza

Mainlevel is providing the management of the Gaza Community Mental Health Programme (GCMHP) with consultancy and capacity-building services for the development of its upcoming Strategic Plan and results framework for 2019-2023, as well as other relevant M&E documents and tools (such as results framework, monitoring instruments and mechanisms, reporting templates) to steer the centre’s work in the coming years.

The new Strategic Plan will build on the results and lessons learnt from the previous implementation period, which is being assessed by our evaluation expert Martine Van de Velde as part of this assignment both remotely and through on-site discussions in Gaza and Jerusalem.

The GCMHP, established in 1990, is the first mental health institution in the Gaza Strip that can provide professional mental health/psychosocial services, the first to introduce the concept of community mental health in the region and the first to link mental health to human rights. In 2004, GCMHP moved from project-based to programme-based through the introduction of its first Strategic Plan (SP) for the period 2005-2007, and from a service provider to a Knowledge-Based Centre.Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC)  together with other donors that are part of the GCMHP Consortium has been supporting and accompanying the GCMHP  in a process of institutional reforms based on the recommendations of former external evaluation.
